Canso X: The Adventure Begins!

Canso X is a mountain adventure park owned by Aboitizland located in Cansomoroy, Balamban, Cebu. It is approximately 1 to 1-1/2 hour travel from Cebu City via Trans central highway.  It offers different activities and surprises for outdoor enthusiasts; from camping to biking, sight seeing to river trekking, and even caving. It would also be perfect for a family who would like to spend quality time by having picnic in the park.

How To Get There:  From Cebu City, you can take a van in Ayala Center Cebu or in SM going to Balamban via trans central highway. Just around 10 kms near Balamban proper you will be able to find the park in the left side. Just make sure that you notify the driver with your destination.

Fortunately, we were able to attend the soft launching of the park. We were able to discover the different scenes of the park and their activities. Here are some of the activities that you can enjoy at the park and the things that you will see:

Play Ground for the children and children of all ages

The Kiosks

Bike Tracks for Cyclists

Trekking  and Sight Seeing

River Trekking

Camping

Camping with convenience: These are the washrooms near the campsite.

They also offer local food such as these

I would like to thank Canso X for inviting us over and for giving us freebies. We would definitely suggest this place to our readers and for sure we will be back real soon.

Agua Villa Exclusive Resort

Agua Villa Resort is an exclusive resort located in Panalipan, Catmon, Cebu.  It is about an hour drive going up north. You can rent the whole place for only 10,000 (overnight) and that is already good for 10 to 15 people with accommodation and facilities included already.

We went to the place for our team building. This time, I was not able to travel with my girlfriend because of our schedules. Anyways, the place is indeed a good venue for group outing, team buildings, small group reunions, and even family outing. They have a kitchen where you can cook your meals, indoor and outdoor dining area; they also have parking space enough for two cars or van; the place has a gate so it is quite safe; they have a living room where you can have your siesta; they have 2 air conditioned room and 1 big dorm-type room. The whole place is really nice and I can say that it is very “sulit” having it for only 10,000 bux. If you are a group of 15 then the damage would only be 600 plus per person. Not bad at all for such experience.

How To Get There:  From Cebu City, take the North bound bus in North bus terminal. Just tell the bus attendant to drop you off at the said resort in Panalipan, Catmon; just a few kilometers from Carmen. Fare would be 65 php as of this posting.

Here are some shots of the place.  (Photo Credits to Moc and Flesy.)

This is how it looks like outside the resort:      The resort is just along the way so it is not that hard to locate. It is on the right side if you are going up north from the city.

Snapshots of Sinulog 2014

This is my second time to write about a Sinulog Festival in my blog.  I just can’t stop myself in sharing to you people the elegance of this event this year. Sinulog 2014 was a blast and so far, it is the most peaceful sinulog that I have ever witnessed. Last year’s sinulog was a bit wild, but Sinulog 2014 was a whole lot more of a crowd. Each year, sinulog’s crowd would evolve. This year, we just had the craziest street party. It is where social statuses is of no regard. It is where the less-fortunate people, the middle class, and the elites would meet and just be friends and have fun in a clean way.

It is the only day where Cebuanos would be “AFK” and just be out in the streets. It is the time where real Chats would happen; not just facebook chats or any IMs. It is where the real social networking happens.

It is so nice to see that even though technology tends to ruin the social life of Cebuanos, there would be a day where we would just forget facebook or the internet just to meet real people outside the streets!

Here are some of Sinulog 2014’s sneak peek:    you wouldn’t wanna drive here for sure!

these people are dancing without music. just all of them chanting and shouting “pit senyor!”

The Best Way To Avoid the Crowd! lol

The Parade:    Good thing we got a good view from here.

As Always, Sinulog 2014 has been so colorful and lively.

Sinulog would not be the grandest festival in the Philippines if there is nothing about it. Truly, it offers you the best experience of party rockin’. There were about 4 million estimated tourists who flocked the Metro for the celebration. Next year, it would be even better. So now you have the glimpse of what sinulog is, you better not miss the next Sinulog! And oh, in case you did not know, it is always on the third Sunday of January. See you next year!

Dakong Bato Resort: The Big Rock of Dalaguete

Dakong Bato Resort is located in Coro, Dalaguete, Cebu.  It is around 100 kms south of Cebu province and about 2 hours of travel by bus. The resort offers wide range of amenities for the whole family. Local tourists often visit the place on weekends, so it is much better to visit the place on a weekday if you want to enjoy the place just for yourselves. They have rooms for families or couples that can be used overnight. They have two pools; both are 5 feet max.  You can also enjoy the beach if you want to.  It offers stunning view of Cebu Straight, facing the island of Bohol.

How To Get There:  From Cebu City, take the bus going down south in Cebu South Bus Terminal. Again, choosing Ceres Aircon Bus would be the best option for safety and convenience.  It would cost you around 100-110 php per person.; just tell the bus crew to drop you off in Dakong Bato. The resort is just adjacent to the national road, so you do not have to take another ride which is a pain-in-the-arse for most people.

Resort Accommodation

The accommodation we chose is good for two.  I like it because we already have our own dining table just outside the room with a very great view of the sea.

Here are some shots we took from our balcony:       The breathtaking view just gives you broad perspective in life.

The Food             We had their house special, Kamayan, for dinner. Yummy!

We went to this place to celebrate our Anniversary.  We want to move on with our lives even though our families were affected by the recent typhoon. We are still thankful that our families in typhoon-hit areas are doing well and moving on with life. With this, we are able to celebrate Christmas and New Year in a more meaningful way.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of You!

Keep on Movin’!  Never stop Explorin’!

Malapascua Island: A Drop of Heaven on Earth

Malapascua is an island paradise located in the northernmost part of Cebu. It is heaven to those who love diving, and playground to those who love the beach.  Bounty Beach, the tourist hotspot of the island, offers wide range of beachfront accommodation, but compared to Bantayan and Camotes Island, Malapascua has higher rates and dining is costly, so if you are planning to visit the place, you should prepare enough budget.

How To Get There

From Cebu City: Take the Northbound buses found in North Bus Terminal (preferably Ceres Bus) Aircon bus fare is around 170 Php from Cebu to Maya Port (wharf going to Malapascua).  Take the regular motorbanca going to Malapascua; fare is around 80 php per person. (Beware of special trip scam where other people would persuade you to pay for higher price). You can then take a walk to your respective accommodations upon arrival in Malapascua or you can just hire motorcycle.

Hiltey’s Hideout

We stayed in Cocobana. Personally, my experience in Cocobana is nice.  Beachfront is great. Accommodation is just fine.  It is just adjacent to Malapascua Wharf.

Things To Do/Where To Visit:

Swimming and Snorkeling:

Coral Garden

Japanese Shipwreck

Dakit-dakit Islet Table Corals

Los Bamboos

Spend some time sitting and chatting in los bamboos sandbar.  It is like a public plaza for the locals here.  A lot of locals spend their siesta and leisure time in los bamboos.

The Lighthouse

From the fantastic water adventures to the inland tour, all we have to spend is just a thousand bux – all in! Thanks to our friendly guide, Ronnie who happens to also have a motorbike that is why he went an extra mile and gave us an inland tour in los bamboos and the lighthouse. If you are interested in getting his number, it is 09491810903. Just negotiate with him and he will definitely give you a good deal.

Where To Eat

Ging-Ging’s   Ging-ging’s is the most popular and the cheapest restaurant in the island. The food is great so you do not have to worry if you are concerned with the quality of the food being served.

Here are some dishes we ordered:   Sweet and Sour Fish (Escabeche)

 Chopsuey

 Chicken Curry

Fried Chicken

 Carbonara

We spent most of our meals here in Ging-ging’s because we just loved their food.

La Isla Bonita Restaurant

Daya Barbecue

If you are on a tight budget then look for this barbecue place.  The food is not the great but you can really save.  It is really hard to find affordable food while you are in a very expensive island.

We really fell in love with the beauty of Malapascua. The only pain the butt (for my girlfriend) are the big waves that keeps on hitting our boat crossing Malapascua and back to Maya; otherwise, all is well. Here are some images we took while discovering this Island Paradise:

We are surely coming back someday but this time we will make sure that the weather condition is perfect.  Malapascua is really a drop of heaven on earth. So if you are planning to discover Philippine’s Beaches, then never miss Malapascua Island!

Choose Malapascua Island, Choose Philippines! 🙂
