The Spectacular Lake Mainit of Mindanao

Lake Mainit is the fourth largest lake in the Philippines. It is located in the Northeastern part of Mindanao.  It is in between the provinces of Agusan del Norte and Surigao del Norte, with the towns Jabonga, Kitcharao, Alegria, Mainit and more. It is rich in freshwater marine resources such as Kasili. It is indeed a good stop over for travelers who are Butuan or Surigao bound.

How To Get There:

From Surigao City:  You can take Butuan-bound buses. If you choose the town Mainit, you have to stop at the corner going to Mainit and opt for another ride going to Mainit town proper. But if you choose Kitcharao, you can just tell the bus driver or crew to drop you off in Kitcharao Town Proper or Almont Resort which is just a few kilometers from the town proper. You can find a great view of the lake from there. If you travel from Butuan, you would also like to take the bus bound for Surigao.

Where To Stay:                                                                                                                        Kasili Lakeside Hotel and Resort     (photo courtesy of Kasili Lakeside Resort)

I can imagine myself in a rowboat sailing in a smooth waters and enjoying the relaxing countryside breeze. Now, that is what you call life! Enjoy it while you still can.. You only live once!
